First of all, some background info: The first book I have read and was able to finish in the year 2017 is none other than a screenplay, instead of a novel. which is quite interesting as I have not read a screenplay before and the fact that it’s J.K. Rowling’s first screenwriting debut. J.K. Rowling, being the author of the Harry Potter series has made a franchise beloved by so many fans worldwide and now is in the process of making a prequel spin-off series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will be a five film series. The first film had been released in November 2016 with the sequel being released in 2018.
Summary: J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut is captured in this exciting hardcover edition of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay.
When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone…
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, author of the beloved and internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. Featuring a cast of remarkable characters, this is epic, adventure-packed storytelling at its very best.
Whether an existing fan or new to the wizarding world, this is a perfect addition to any reader’s bookshelf.
My thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed reading the screenplay, although it wasn’t written in novel form J.K. Rowling’s writing made me feel like I was watching the movie again. I had watched the film beforehand and reading the screenplay was a very interesting experience for me. It would be quite interesting if the other movies had screenplays published too….or even as a fully fleshed novel for that matter. 5/5 stars!
